DV 2023 Lottery Statistics Published

The Visa Bulletin for the month of August 2022 has been released, and as expected, it contains the DV-2023 Lottery Statistics.
The Stats
Of the so-many million entries submitted during the 2023 Entry period which ran from noon, Eastern Daylight Time on Wednesday, October 6, 2021, to noon, Eastern Standard Time on Tuesday, November 9, 2021, 9,570,291 were qualified.
And from that number, 119,262 prospective applicants – including principals and derivatives – were selected to apply for the 54,850 available Diversity Visas during Fiscal Year 2023 (October 1, 2022 to September 30, 2023).
It is important to note that selectees as well as their spouses and children who do not receive Diversity visas by September 30, 2023 will have no further claim based on their selection in the DV-2023 Program.
Based on the Stats
This year’s total number of selectees is a bit higher than that of last year, making a DV-2023 second draw unlikely. The number of selectees also indicates that at least 64,412 will not receive one of the available visas eventually.
Algeria, Egypt, Uzbekistan, Iran and Russia have the highest numbers of selectees for the DV-2023 Program, with each topping 5,000.

Thanks for the good job,I won the 2023FY Liberia as country of chargeability and my case number falls around 42k.I choose nigeria for interview because I live here and am yet to be scheduled for interview as of 2nd of august 2023.
The embassy in Lagos has not interviewed any DV 2023 applicant, and scheduling of interviews is about to end – unfortunately.

Hi there,i do have 3 questions actually. I applied for the dv 2024 and got randomly selected. Now i’ve to fill the second form. But by this time i’ve been married,so my questions are
1. Can i change my marital status as married in the second form??Is it eligible? Can i bring my wife with me if i’m selected in the second round?
2. If the answer to question number 1 is “No” then how can i bring my wife with me if i’m selected??whats the legal way?
3. When is the deadline for filling the second form??

Yes, but it’s for DV 2025 instead. The already-made selection is for DV 2024.

The Diversity Visa Program has changed in recent years. Had it been a few years ago, you would have already been interviewed by this time. Unfortunately, nowadays, it is left with each embassy to make decisions regarding interviewing DV cases. If they decide to interview only one case in a whole month, forexample, that is what will happen.
The Ankara Embassy is one of the embassies that has been doing very little. They have so many cases assigned there, but are hardly conducting interviews. And unfortunately, that’s where your case is assigned. With such a situation, there’s no guarantee that you will be interviewed, even with your very low case number.

1. Can i fill as “married” in the second form??what can i do to bring my spouse with me if i’m selected for the second time??
2. My national id cards middle name is written as “Uqbeab” not “Ogbeab” as per my native country’s name dictionary. Does it have any problem??if yes what can i do to fix it??

There are other factors that come into play here which makes it impossible to tell the month.

I am a DV lottery winner from Afghanistan. my case number is around 22,000. Since March the cut-offs numbers for Asia have been stuck in 18750. For June 2023, it has not changed, and it is still in 18750. Is there any hope that numbers may increase to 22,000 in three remaining moths, July, August, September or we will not have any chance to be interviewed? thank you in advance for your kind information. we do appreciate your kindness and benevolence.

I strongly think the Asia cut-off will increase in the coming month(s). But to what extent (i.e. whether it will reach your case number), I can not tell. When it comes to movements in the VB cut-offs numbers, anything is possible. Just hope for the best!
