The Lottery For 2024 Has Ended!

The Diversity Visa Lottery for 2024 has ended! The Lottery was initially announced to run from Wednesday, October 2, 2024, to Tuesday, November 5, 2024. However, about a week to the latter, the process was extended for two days – up to Thursday, November 7, 2024.
What’s Next?
Now comes the selection process which will take several months, at the end of which ‘winners’ will be ‘announced’. The date of release of the results of the just-ended DV Lottery is May 3, 2025.
Entrants who will be selected in May 2025 may apply for Diversity Visas as part of the DV-2026 Program.
Next Chance
Those who qualified to have participated, but didn’t – for one reason or the other – will not have the opportunity to do so until October 2025 when the next DV Lottery takes place.
And those who are ‘chargeable’ to an ineligible country, and who therefore did not qualify will need to check the next Diversity Visa Program instructions before the start of the Lottery next year to know whether their country remains ineligible or not.
Reminder
The DV Lottery is the first step in applying for immigration to the United States by means of the Diversity Immigrant Visa (DV) Program, a US immigration program administered by the US State Department. The Lottery takes place from early October to early November every year.
Only individuals ‘chargeable’ to eligible countries qualify to participate in the DV Lottery.
