Since the release of the DV 2024 results last month, applicants have been wondering whether they are to submit supporting documents to the Kentucky Consular Center (KCC) as part of their Diversity Visa application process.

Submission of documents to KCC was first introduced during the DV 2019 Program, but was suspended early in the DV 2022 Program. The procedure does not apply to the DV 2023 Program, and questions have so far concerned the fate of the procedure as it relates to the DV 2024 Program.

The State Department has finally made the well-awaited announcement.

In an update published on the official website of the Bureau of Consular Affairs, the State Department has confirmed that the procedure has been suspended for DV 2024 and onward. Meaning DV 2024 applicants will not submit supporting documents to KCC.

It’s the DS-260 for each qualifying family member that DV 2024 applicants must submit to KCC. The submitted forms will then be reviewed by KCC. If they are found to be complete, the applicants will become eligible for interview whenever their case number becomes current in the Visa Bulletin.

It is only at their interview that DV 2024 applicants must present their supporting documents – as required by U.S. Law concerning immigrant visa cases.

This DV 2024 update brings to an end all speculations that have so far existed concerning the documents procedure, not only for the DV 2024 Program, but also for programs after it.

As is noted in the update, the reason for the suspension is to increase the number of DV appointments scheduled during the earlier months of the program year.

This news will be highly welcome by DV 2024 applicants as the non-submission of documents to KCC will speed up the processing of applications as well as the conduct of interviews in the DV 2024 Program.

The Diversity Visa 2024 Update is accessible on the website of the Bureau of Consular Affairs.
