DV-2021: Number of Selectees by Country Released!
(Note: The following article concerns the number of selectees for the already-ending DV 2021 Program. For the same information about the upcoming (DV 2022) program, CLICK HERE.)
DV-2021: Number of Selectees by Country Released!
As was expected, the September Visa Bulletin has been released. And it contains a breakdown of the number of selectees for the DV-2021 Results which were released on June 6, 2020.
As is the case every year, the numbers have been provided by country; with Algeria, Egypt, Sudan, Iran and Russia having the highest numbers of selectees – each topping 6,000.
The total number of selectees for DV-2021 is 132,404, making this year an over-selected year. With that number, there will certainly be no second draw as some had been hoping: the status of those not selected in June will remain as such.
In addition, this number also indicates that as many as 77,654 (i.e. more than half of the total selectees) will eventually not receive visas at the close of the upcoming fiscal year. That is because there will be only 54,750 visas available for that much larger number of selectees.
The above number of selectees were chosen from a total of 6,741,128 qualified entries (11,830,707 with derivatives), which is much lower than in previous years. Last year’s, for example, was 14,722,798 qualified entries (23,182,554 with derivatives).
This massive reduction in qualified entries submitted during the DV-2021 Entry period (Wednesday, October 2 to Tuesday, November 5, 2019) was undoubtedly due to the introduction of the passport regulation .
The September Visa Bulletin also contains – as usual – the regional cut-offs for the first month of the new fiscal year – October 2020. However, with the extended ban on immigration still in place, those numbers are not of much importance. Unless the ban is overturned in the coming months, early DV-2021 interviews are not expected to be conducted.
Finally, the September Visa Bulletin admonishes DV-2022 hopefuls to expect details regarding that program by means of the official State Department Visa web page in the coming months (It could actually be as early as next month).
The breakdown of selectee numbers by region and by country, as displayed in the September Visa Bulletin, appear below, in alphabetical order:

Iwant toknow case number
You only get a case number IF you’re selected, Ibrahim. So first check your result (by providing the exact information) to know if you were selected.
I’m a DV 2022 winner from Africa with a case number of 41*** do I have a chance to be schedule for an interview?
You do have a chance, but a rather low one, considering how slowly interviews are being conducted this year. Read more here: https://mydvprogram.com/dv-2022-case-processing-thus-far
Hello I am Haris naeemi from Afghanistan kabul I was Translator in kandahar provence I have also certified from the US and I have 4 children 1 daughter in 3 sons I apply for register for US DV Lottery Visa
Hi Haris, your comment is not that clear. Are you saying you wish to apply or that you’ve applied? Please say.
What if I I have won the lottery but unable to go to USA in near future due to some unavoidable circumstances. Should I inform them ? and most importantly can I apply for the DV lottery again in upcoming year
You must process your case and be issued your Diversity visa during the Program year. If you don’t – whether due to unavoidable circumstances or not – you will lose the opportunity. Informing them will not help.
Yes, you can enter the Lottery in the upcoming year. There’s no problem with that.
Hello am a selectee of 2022 and my case number is AF46*** and i have filled the ds260 online information already. Are they other documents i need to submit plus do i stand a chance. Thanks
Congratulations, Joyceline, on your selection for the 2022 Program.
When the processing of your DS-260(s) has been completed, you’ll receive an email from KCC providing details regarding the submission of your required documents. So check your email regularly, and exercise some patience.
As it relates to your chances, we do not know the case number range as yet. However, DV-2022 selectees like yourself stand a better chance in general than those of the last two years.
Good luck!

Hi Ibrahim, you may have wrongly copied your entry information, ESPECIALLY YOUR CONFIRMATION NUMBER. That is why – I think – you are not getting to see your result. Enter the information exactly as it is on your confirmation page, and you’ll get to know your result. GOOD LUCK!
Iwant answer tochek my dv 2021 result

Hi, I am the DV lottery 2022 winner and my question is,
1- I am working in government
2- I travel to China for IT training
does it affect my case?
No, it doesn’t/shouldn’t. Unless there are other ‘details’ not included here.
Hi, I’m D V 2021 winner with case no 82××× and I have submitted my supporting documents two months ago and I’ve not been hearing from kcc for an interview date.
I’ve responded to this preoccupation many times. See the comments below. But to give you an insight:
2021 is not a normal DV year. Many of you – 2021 selectees – will not be invited for interview at the end of the day. You all have to begin to accept this reality.
Hello, thanks for your help on this. I was selected for dv-2022 and I just submitted the form DS-260. Confirmation email doesn’t say that I have other documebts to submit, is that correct? What else I would need to send them?
In the email they sais that i don’t need to submit any documentation but reading previous messagges in this thread It seems the opposite.
The DS-260 confirmation page doesn’t provide information on the documents to submit. When the processing of your DS-260(s) has been completed, you’ll receive an email providing details surrounding the submission of your required documents. So check your email regularly.
Please note: Depending on your case number, the email may delay. So (a lot of) patience may be required on your part.
I am a DV-LOTTERY 2021 winner from Afghanistan (Asia Region). Do you know why even a single case of dv is not scheduled for an interview in the embassy? We are really worry about it.
Hi Aijaz:
What I’m aware of is that the embassy is first rescheduling interviews which were suspended due to COVID, and that should include DV cases. So I find it strange that you’re saying not a single DV interview has been scheduled.
However, as I’ve pointed out on numerous occasions, this is not a normal DV year! I’ve been saying this for a long time now. DV 2021 selectees should be aware – and accept – that only very few of you will actually get an interview at the end of the day. There’s no doubt about that.
You all have to begin to accept that reality – unfortunately.
Hi, IS 47xxx highest number in AF?
For DV-2021, the highest case number in AF was much higher than that. For DV-2022, we don’t know the highest case numbers yet.
How does one know the case numbers being dealt with?
By following the State Department monthly Visa Bulletin. Read this article for more insight: https://mydvprogram.com/what-is-visa-bulletin
My case number appeared in the May 2021 visa bulletin, I submitted DS260 since Sep.2020, and so far I haven’t received any emails from KCC to sending my documents for review before scheduling an appointment at the embassy.
The DV 2021 program is in an actual state of confusion. You are not alone in such a situation. And many of you will eventually not receive the email you are awaiting, nor be scheduled for interview.
If you are aware of the process, then go and ahead and send in your documents. Time is almost up, and you have nothing to lose by doing so. You could even end up lucky.
Hi
Does bank statement required together with other documents after winning the lottery, as you apply for visa?
No John, a bank statement is not one of the required documents.
Please I want to apply or register for US DV lottery this year, when is it opening and what are the processes. Nd please has the US lottery entry always required a passport?
Hi Berlinda:
The Entry period for the DV Lottery usually runs from early October to early Novemebr every year. Kindly read the following article (click the link) to know the details: https://mydvprogram.com/how-to-enter-the-diversity-visa-program
No, the Lottery entry has not always required a passport. The passport rule was introduced only two years ago.
Hi
My name is Jasper. I am a DV 2021 selectee. I submitted my DV-260 form with my wife on July 10, 2021 but the embassy in my country (Liberia) has not yet open. Do you think I still have the chance for an interview. My case number is in 78xxx thousand.
Hi Jasper:
(I guess you meant to have typed July 10, 2020, instead of 2021). Anyway, to answer your question, I would like to ask whether you’ve submitted your documents as well. Your embassy could reopen at any time, but until your documents are submitted, you don’t have a chance of being interviewed.
hi, thanks for your previous reponse. i learnerd earlier that one could send his supporting document even when not yet demanded by the program . if has to do so to which address should he send.
The address is kccdvdocuments@state.gov
Hi I Matthew n. Duo from Liberia, as one of the selectee of DV 2021 with the case number 630xx is it possible for me schedule as I have filled in the DS-260 and also have submitted my supporting documents about two months ago. Please I want to know.
Yes Matthew, with all regions and countries current, it is possible, BUT DIFFICULT. Considering the pace at which documents are being processed by KCC, interview scheduling seems to currently be based on luck. So pray that you’re one of the lucky ones.
with this current situation is it still possible for a case number AF 457xx still be schedule for interview
Yes Kay, it is still possible (but not certain), provided your DS-260 and documents have been submitted, and you are lucky.
I’m a selectee for DV 2021 with case number AF 82××× and I’ve submitted my documents two months ago en I have not hear from NVC .
I submitted my passport, police certificate and birth certificate.
Do I need to send another document?
Hi Loma:
The ones you submitted are the basic ones. There may be others depending on your situation. For example, marriage certificate, if you’re married; marriage termination documents; or court, prison or military records in case any of these concern you.
As for not hearing from KCC, kindly read other comments in this thread to have an idea on the situation of the DV-2021 Program.
Hi i filled in my ticket today. I read the comment that result is already been published so what will happen my lotto
Hi Rijju:
The result spoken about here is NOT the lotto result. It’s that of the DIVERSITY VISA Lottery which doesn’t involve tickets. That comment therefore doesn’t concern your lotto.
Am sorry I mean I want to know my DV result 2021
Check it by reading this article: https://mydvprogram.com/have-you-checked-your-dv-2020-result.
Hello please I want to my DV result 2021
Hi, I am DV2021 Selectee. My case number is EU95XX. With the delay of the interview for DV2021, do you think I still have a chance to get an interview?
Hi Dorina:
Sorry for the delayed response.
To answer your question, I would say (as I’ve said to many others before you), these are not normal times. As such, a case number and visa bulletin cut-offs are no longer sufficient to determine one’s chances of getting an interview.
There are other factors that come into play: for example, whether your DS 260 and documents have been duly submitted to AND PROCESSED by KCC, whether the embassy in your country has reopened and resumed interviews, among others. Such are the factors that will determine your chances.
But to tell you the truth, the chances of MOST DV 2021 selectees are very low considering the total number of selectees and the time we have left.
Hi my question is..how do confirmation numbers relate with case numbers.?
am dv 2022.
just help me understand.
Hi Sylvia:
A confirmation number ‘proves that one entered the Lottery; a case number is assigned to him/her AFTER RANDOM SELECTION. There’s therefore no relationship between the two.
Hi, I am PETER Goodlor from Liberia, with the current ban, do you think this year winners will go for interview…
Hi Peter:
I personally think this year has much in common with last year: SOME selectees will indeed be interviewed, but all of them will certainly NOT, given the months we’ve already lost.
My case was 72xxx,I submitted my ds_260 on February 2021,,,what time will I be scheduled an interview for the same
Have you sent in your documents, Vincent? To be scheduled for interview, you also must have submitted supporting documents. If that is not done, you WILL NOT be scheduled for interview.
I heard in some you tube channel that Africa case numbers have a lot of holes how doeshe this affect the selectees especially those with high case numbers
A lot of ‘holes’ tend to produce case numbers that – at first glance – appear to be high. They may seem to be high initially, but you may later realize that they actually are not high case numbers.
A case number is considered ‘high’ in regard to the highest case number in the region in a given year, and not simply because it’s a big number.
So, if your case number is close to the highest case number in the region, then you can say that it’s a high one. Having a high case number is always risky: you may end up not being scheduled for interview.
Hi, I am DV2021 Selectee. My case number is AS 32XXX. With the delay of the interview for DV2021, do you think I still have a chance to get an interview?
Hi Marlia:
Thanks for stopping by.
With the current state of the DV Program, almost anything is possible. There are too many factors (both negative – like the delay; and positive – like the case number range) that come into play when considering the chances of DV 2021 cases.
Meaning you cannot rule out getting an interview. What I would advise is that you fill out and submit your DS 260 (IF YOU HAVEN’T DONE SO YET), and wait and hope for the best.
